George Hunsburger and Mark Lau-Branson, Theologians

What are we learning?

Increasingly, we recognize our dependence on others to understand the gospel and the world it speaks to. Some of the most important moments of conversion happen when vastly different people and congregations, particularly in terms of wealth and culture, rub shoulders together in service and fellowship. Sharing our ideas, debriefing our experiences, and reflecting on how our respective theologies and perspectives engage them is the purpose of this site.

Congregational Life & Urban Mission

What is the relationship between a congregation’s life together and its presence and prophetic witness in the city? How is the essential movement between worship and service fostered or compromised? What communal and liturgical practices help produce a people that more faithfully embodies God’s heart of compassion and justice in the world? Enter forum here

Issues and Policy Forum

As GUM and its congregational partners serve together in the city, particular social and political issues surface that call for collective examination and discernment. How does our faith raise different questions than those framed by the national debate? How does the gospel narrative inform the way the Church needs to speak…and live…in the midst of unjust polices? Enter current forums here

Evaluation & Feedback

How do you think our recent event went? What do you think went well? How might we do things differently the next time? In what ways did God surprise us? If you were a part of a recent GUM event or project, we’d like to hear your thoughts. Offer feedback here

Just the beginning

Welcome to the GRIDD. Whether you want to learn more about the city, see how God is at work in and through His Church, or to simply catch up with what we’re up to and what we’re thinking about these days, we want the GRIDD to be of service.
