Back in Our 'Hood
– Craig Wong & Pam Chao
Our return back to 16th Street has begun! Grace Fellowship Community Church’s worship services have resumed in the renovated sanctuary, and the new Grace Urban Ministries and pastoral offices will be ready for duty early 2012. While the Lord has used this season of disruption to teach us valuable lessons in trust, flexibility, and inter-dependence, we are grateful to be back home, and with renewed vision for ministry and hospitality among, and with, our neighbors. We’ve already been blessed with new opportunities with, in particular, our local school partners. For example, we recently assisted Mission High School’s career day by recruiting congregational volunteers to share their vocational stories with juniors and seniors. And through Project Magi, the congregation will support Sanchez Elementary School’s efforts to boost literacy, promote physical health through pedometers and other fitness tools, and provide bus tokens for kids who are having difficulty getting across town. In connection with Project Magi, the congregation will host a luncheon for all the school staff just before the Christmas break. In the end, we want these tangible expressions of care to reflect our commitment to be good neighbors…pointing to God’s loving and consistent presence in this place for the long haul. Please pray for us as we return to this particular corner of San Francisco where God has called us to live.
Just the beginning
Welcome to the GRIDD. Whether you want to learn more about the city, see how God is at work in and through His Church, or to simply catch up with what we’re up to and what we’re thinking about these days, we want the GRIDD to be of service.
