Adult & Family Support
Behind every struggling individual, young or old, is a family that likely faces a host of social & economic challenges. Grace Urban Ministries assists the congregation in embracing whole families with the hope of the gospel.
Hospitality
The fruit of the gospel are communities of people who practice and offer hospitality to their neighbors. For example, Kaleo, a ministry of hospitality with educational dimensions, provides parents with a place to rest, recreate, make friends, learn new skills, and receive help and moral support amidst the challenges of raising kids and earning a living in San Francisco. Advocacy & Referral
GUM staff and volunteers serve as advocates for adults with specific challenges, for example, landlord-tenant relations, employee-management issues, navigating the school system, or accessing social services and health care. GUM develops partnership with many community-based nonprofits and agencies that can provide the appropriate and necessary expertise and human services. Learn More
Parenting Support
In addition to venues like Kaleo, that provides parents with a community of mutual support and companionship, GUM provides the congregation with ways to assist young moms through Project Magi, a Christmas gift-giving program that provides child-raising supplies like strollers, baby carriers, and other needs among the school district’s pregnant teen moms. Family Activities
With the hope of fostering healthy relationships between children, parents, as well as among families of both congregation and neighborhood, GUM assists with church-based picnics and outings, for example, Urban Adventures, a series of summmer field trips where families can explore the city and hear the rich stories of historical churches in the city.
