Grace Fellowship Community Church (GFCC) was founded in 1983, with a desire and commitment to follow Jesus Christ as Lord and faithfully live out the implications of the gospel in our city of San Francisco. Core to our understanding of the gospel is our call to be the Church, a people whose shared and sanctified life together bears witness to the transforming, just and merciful work of Jesus Christ. Therefore, we see our service in a needy world as flowing from, and shaped by, our common commitment to worship, biblical teaching, and self-denying fellowship. Our hope is that those we care for through our ministries would encounter the person of Jesus in the midst of our life together as God's people. In 1996, to help carry out this two-fold mission of gathered life and outward service, GFCC established Grace Urban Ministries, Inc as a community outreach arm of the congregation.
